Nordic United grooms several trails for cross country skiing in coordination with the Cache Valley Fat Bike Collective who groom trails for snow biking.

In 2018 there were over 4300 winter visits to Green Canyon! If you enjoy the trails, please join or make a donation. We receive no funding from the Forest Service for grooming. Each time we groom it costs approximately $100 in fuel, maintenance, snowmobile expenses and volunteer time.

The next time you see a groomer on the trail, thank them for all the hard work! You can contact the NU Grooming Coordinator if you want to volunteer or have grooming suggestions.

There are also ungroomed trails in the valley and the mountains that you can tour on classic cross country skis

Brookhaven Trail Keepers

The trail system at Brookhaven has been 25 years in the making. A passion for downhill skiing brought us to Alpine Meadows Road and the wonderful community ski mountain there. When the area closed in 1993 I focused my energy on creating a cross country ski trail network. In the years since, trails have been added and removed and recently have grown to take advantage of the Town of Greenfield’s Brookhaven Park and can now boast nearly 9 miles of groomed ski and snowshoe trails as well as a full service restaurant on the weekends.

Last Chance Nordic Ski Club

We groom about fourteen kilometers of trails on MacDonald Pass; these trails unfold just east of the Continental Divide, about fifteen miles west of Helena. When we’re able to do so, we also groom about four kilometers of track on the in-town Bill Roberts Golf Course. We groom Mac Pass and the Golf Course, when snow-depth permits, for both classic and skate skiing. Skiers of all abilities are welcome on either trail, and skiing is free. To defray grooming and other expenses the Club welcomes skiers to become a Last Chance Nordic Ski Club member or make donations. There’s a lot of work done year-around, behind the scenes, to make the MacDonald Pass trails and the Golf Course tracks skiable. Besides grooming four to six days a week, there are snow-machines, rollers, and ginzu’s that need to be purchased and maintained; trails to be kept free of trees, branches, stones, and grass; signs to be erected; maps to be updated; this website to be maintained; restrooms to be maintained and cleaned; grants to be sought and procured; parking lots to be plowed out; and many other large and small but vital tasks. About half the grooming is paid, all other work is done by club members volunteering. Four or so Saturdays a year, our Youth Skiers program provides kids, ages three to twelve, with a couple hours of fun on the snow alongside volunteer instructors and parents while they improve their cross country skiing skills. A weekly Master Skiers program, open to all skiers of all abilities, brings continuing cross country ski education to the eighteen-plus years-old set.

Ogden Nordic
Posted In:

Ogden Nordic is a nonprofit organization with a mission to promote cross country skiing, snow-biking and snowshoeing in Northern Utah through world class grooming, dedicated volunteers, trails planning, construction and maintenance, all levels of instruction and friendly social gatherings.

We groom 15-20 miles of trails for Nordic Skiing, and about 10 miles for snowshoeing and fat biking. We operate a top level PSIA certified ski school.

Most of our operations are accomplished with volunteers. If you are interested in being part of an incredible volunteer team, contact us here.

LOCATION AND DIRECTIONS: We are located in Weber County's North Fork Park. The Nordic Center and main entrance is at the South Gate, which is at the end of 5950 N. in Liberty (4150 East 5950 North, Liberty, UT). View Google Map here

• Coming from Eden: Go North on HWY162. Turn West (left) on 4100 at the Liberty Park 'T'. Turn RIGHT onto N3300E. Veer LEFT at the split onto North Fork Road. Turn LEFT on 5950 N. Follow 5950 N (~1 mile) to the Nordic Center parking area.

• Coming from North Ogden: Go over the North Ogden Divide. Turn LEFT onto N 3300E. Veer LEFT at the split onto North Fork Road. Turn LEFT on 5950 N. Follow 5950 N (~1 mile) to the Nordic Center parking area.

HOURS OF OPERATIONS: Trails are open and accessible 7 days/week. Purchase a season pass or a daily pass online.

WHAT TO EXPECT: Ogden Nordic has a small Nordic Center (yurt) located at the South Gate of North Fork Park. The Yurt will not be open this season, so here is no indoor escape from the weather. There are picnic tables in a covered/somewhat protected area about 1/4 mile up the trail from the Nordic Center/parking area in the Ball Field. There are two porta-potties in the parking area - there is no running water. Please purchase a Season Pass or Daily Trail Passes online here.

On weekends there will be volunteer "trail hosts" at the South Gate entrance who can give you information about the trails and provide assistance with equipment etc as needed.

WHAT TO WEAR: Cross country skiing and snowshoeing are not like downhill skiing. Once you get moving you will get warmed up, so wear layers so you can adjust as you go along. Hat and mittens are essential. Medium weight wool socks are probably best.
